Brenda explores island geographies, places with borders within urban landscapes. An interplay of photography, drawing, print and writing give articulation to the projects. She applies research and documentation to explore issues of identity and isolation. Interaction with certain physical landscapes are subjects used to convey a human and poetic response. important influences are reflected in Brenda's art practice: her experience as an artist with a congenital disability and her past social work.
Brenda is chair & curator of the annual arts weekend Lady Bay Arts Trail in Nottingham NG2. The event hosts around 80 artists and designers from the East Midlands across 35 venues held in homes, studios and gardens and local businesses.
Brenda is based in Nottingham and holds a Masters in Fine Art from Nottingham Trent University (2012), BA Hons in History & Theory of Art (1978) and a Masters in Social Work (1981) from University of Sussex.
