Brenda explores island geographies, especially places with borders within urban landscapes. Using an interplay of photography, drawing, print and writing, she researches and documents change. Her images and writings reflect upon identity and isolation, poetic responses to changing physical landscapes.
Since 2009 Brenda has coordinated the Lady Bay Arts Trail held every year south of the River Trent in Nottingham. With 25 years in social care management & policy making, Brenda decided in 2005 to change careers to study fine art and develop her art practice helping to promote artist engagement in the local community.
Brenda is based in Nottingham and holds a Masters in Fine Art from Nottingham Trent University (2012), BA Hons in History & Theory of Art (1978) and a Masters in Social Work (1981) from University of Sussex.
